Info on starvation, waste and malnutrition

Starvation and waste of food are two of the major problems faced by Brazil. This constitutes one of the greatest paradoxes of our country, since we produce 140 million tons of food per year, and we are among the greatest exporters of agricultural products in the world; at the same time we have millions of excluded people with no access to enough food in quantity or quality - primarily to keep them alive - and if survival were to be assured , enough food, to keep them in good health, and to give them adequate conditions for their full human development.

We believe the food which is eliminated indiscriminately, could be used as a main source of combat against the effects of starvation, malnutrition, and subnutrition. The losses in the productive chain of food products, would feed 1/3 of the hungry Brazilians. That means that without spending one cent more with the production of food, and by only dedicating ourselves objectively to the salvage of this waste, we would be offering food to a great part of the 75 million people who starve or who do not eat adequately in this country.

It is to this that we want to bring conscience - and it is to this - that we dedicate our work
